ABOUT ME

Kaitlin was born by the ocean, grew up in the plains and now calls the mountains home. She’s a traveler and has a gypsy spirit which always leads to winding adventures. She’s mainly lived in Western North America but spent longer stints in the South Pacific and Central America. Finding home hasn’t been as easy as clicking her heels together to return to Kansas but the Vail Valley is her landing spot for now.

Kaitlin studied English and Writing at Coe College while also a student-athlete and campus leader. In her mid-twenties, she found outdoor education as a way to experience new places and share her environmentalism ethos. This trade has led her to explore mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and deserts around North America.

Recently while living in British Columbia, she got into the forest school curriculum and worked for a year and a half as a Teacher with The Forest Path. This philosophy of teaching combines mindful awareness within nature allowing for deeper connection to oneself and the natural environment. In June 2021, she trained under Tim Corcoran and Jeannine Tidwell, at Twin Eagles Wilderness School in Sandpoint, ID.

In the summer of 2022, Kaitlin plans on starting her own forest school in the Vail Valley to help further her mission of creating mindful opportunities while engaging in nature.

As a result of living under tourist visas for 2 years, Kaitlin felt the desire to share her writing with the goals of freelancing through an internship with Jaunt Media Collective. She now regularly writes for all three of their publications, Covered Bridge Magazine, CO Yoga + Life Magazine, and Spoke + Blossom Magazine.

While receiving her Yoga Teacher Training in the summer of 2014, Kaitlin helped edit the first two books in Susan Kraus’ Grace McDonald series.

Since university, Kaitlin hasn’t stopped learning and acquires certifications and trainings every few years. This investment of knowledge provides a rich background that allowed for travel opportunities and meeting new people from around the world. Her trainings include: Yoga Teacher, Meditation Teacher, AcroYoga Teacher, Permaculture Design Certification, Wilderness Skills Instructor, Level 1 Ski Instructor, Children’s Specialist Ski Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and Growing Grower participant.
